Why Fashion Nomads?

Wikipedia : “Nomads, are communities of people that move with herd animals from one place to another, rather than settling down in one location”.

My life has been like this: I am born in Denmark, moved with my family to Germany and grew up there, then later my family moved back to Denmark. In my youth I moved to Finland and lived there for many years, and from Finland I moved to Africa and stayed there for almost 4 years, and came back to Denmark in 2005.

Fashion Nomads is a perfect name for my business in Second Life where the idea behind the name has a story.

I was born in a little town called Odense, Denmark. My father is Danish and my mother is German. I grew up partly in Denmark and partly in Germany. I spent my youth in Finland and did work for NGO with deaf people as organizational adviser in Mozambique and Uganda for almost 4 year. I am a social worker by education and am currently working with mentally disabled deaf people. Currently I live in Copenhagen with my son.

I speak English, German, Danish, Finnish and some Portuguese. Beside knowing several spoken and writen languages, I also am fluent in danish, finnish and ugandan sign language.
I am deaf in my real life, but despite or because of that, I have always been a fighter. I know what I can do and what my limits are. No other person can tell me that something is impossible – only I know what I can do and also what I cannot. Overall, I am very positive and do believe there is a lot of good in every human being. If you are a thief, it may not always be because you are a bad human being. The environment may have made you become a thief.

As many other , I started my SL with camping after some lindens, explored a lot and did also meet many different people from all over the world, and one day I said to myself: What am doing in SL, I cant just keep camping and exploring all the time I spend in SL and decided that I want to be usefull and do something usefull. In the beginning of my SL I had a rl photogallery in a sim called Africa and had my pictures from Africa displayed.

Later on, I start to get more interessed in SL fashion industry and actually my interest for fashion began from the day I was born. My mother was working as a clothes designer and designed and made all the clothes for her and me. I grew up with my mother’s advice on dress codes, color combinations and trends and especially on how NOT to look like an vagabond.

When I came into SL and saw the variety of clothes residents were wearing, I said to myself ‘ WOW – amazing! ” I wanted to be part of it and decided to enter KSG Modelling School. Later, I entered Ewing Fashion Agency Elite Modelling School where I then was employed as a model, model trainer, styleblog writer, contributor and photographer for Alta Moda magazine.

I do all these things with passion and I really enjoy it even with the stress that sometimes comes with deadlines, show rehearsals, meetings and everything. I LOVE the challenges!

- Winner of Miss Second Life World 2008

- Blacklace Model Search 2008 – 1st Runner up

- Miss Virtual World 2009 – Finalist (Miss Denmark)

What now?

Now I work as model and photographer for Avenue and Ewing Fashion Agency and model for Super Elite Agency - furthermore I do model for Blacklace&Alphamale (specialized in womens and mens underwear, clothes and skins) and help out in their store. Beside that, I run my little shop and its what I will write more about in my blog here along with other fashion related stuff.
